In partnership with the World Health Organization, Intrazero has deployed iAssets and a comprehensive hospital information management system (HIMS) at Demartino Hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. This 5-year contract represents one of the most ambitious hospital digitization projects in East Africa.
The Context: Healthcare in Mogadishu
Demartino Hospital is one of Mogadishu's key healthcare facilities, serving thousands of patients. Before digitization, asset management was entirely manual, equipment maintenance was reactive, and patient data management relied on paper records — creating inefficiencies that directly impacted patient care.
What We Deployed
- iAssets for biomedical and facility asset tracking
- Hospital Information Management System (HIMS)
- Preventive maintenance scheduling and work order automation
- Equipment lifecycle tracking and depreciation management
- Digital patient record management
- Offline-first mobile apps for field maintenance teams
Results in Year One
Within the first 12 months, Demartino Hospital achieved a 35% reduction in equipment downtime and a 30% improvement in operational efficiency. Critical medical devices that previously had unpredictable failure rates are now on preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring they're available when patients need them most.
The WHO has cited this deployment as a model for hospital digitization in conflict-affected and resource-limited settings. The offline-first architecture ensures the system works even when internet connectivity is intermittent.
Healthcare infrastructure in challenging environments needs technology that works reliably without perfect conditions. That's exactly what we built for Demartino.
